Unit 2 - Induction to Production

Induction to Production

Image result for gio console

Thoroughly, I learnt how to record the lighting installion onto the Gio Console programme. Step by step: 1. You will select one of Fresenls, Profiles, Flood Battens, Parcans, LED's or Moving lights but the Fresenls is the most common used lanterns in lighting so starting off I selected the Fresenls 85,86,88 and 89 all in a row. Then used the 'Fader Page Control' to rise the lights up then I would record what I created onto the cue after used the 'Fader Page Control' again and scrolled the lights down to create a blackout to add onto my cue. Personally, I think it was easy and quick to learn because it's all simple if you are interested in the area of the production team. However, coming to technical theatre alongside working with the performing arts department with other students, we were assigned to work with other students then teaching them how to use the Gio Console to recreate 'Relight My Fire' song by Take that ft Lulu. Moreover, there was a session that we watched the music video of 'Relight My Fire' to get an idea, in order to fresh our brains to create a vibrant vibe for our light installation to present to my peers. I taught and explained to my partner how to use the Gio Console as every single of the other performing arts students had to learn to get used to using the Gio Console in the future. And I taught my partner how to record the light installation onto the cute then managaing the file so the file doesn't get lost but the main objective was recording, adding onto the cues and being able to editing when the file is saved. On the other hand, I was handed a Gio Console Programme booklet which has helped along for the use of working in the gallery on the Gio Console and the booklet is very helpful and very much in depth if you are a production student or trying to learn about the Gio Console.

Image result for theatre lights  This is a Par cans light which acts like flood batterns, but without the intensity of light that a flood batterns provides. These lights are most commonly used for concerts but this depends where the need for lighting is to flood battern area, alongside providng more selected areas of lighting. However, I taught how to uninstall the par cans lights alongside with my partner Kieran and together we learnt how to uninstall and install the par can in a safe way possible. In order to uninstall the par cans is depress the two adjacent spring leaves on the left and right accessory holders and gently remove the lens retaining- ring out of the lighting texture. Then installing the par can is to place the lens retaining ring on a flat surface with three copper clips facing upwards. The lens is placed with the concave side upwards and once these are placed correctly, slide the lens under one of the copper clips then carefully depress the two other clips simultaneously with your thumbs just so the lens seats onto the retainer. These were beneficial as I will be working in the gallery and theatre more often and I needed to know this otherwise I could injure those around me if placed incorrectly or not having a clue and that's why it's important that I should learning and understand how to work with the par cans and other theatre lights. Therefore, par cans and other theatre can be very dangerous as in dealing with par cans and other theatre in the future, for example changing lens for shows, concerts or performance these par cans have to be very secure in every possible before placing it in the ceiling.

Evaluation:
As apart of my course, this is very beneficial for me to learn and understand as a I will be working with Gio Console Programme and the theatre lights in my work area and I loved using the Gio Console Programme but I think need to work more on the Gio Console as it is the first using the Gio Console, I'll like to learn more about in the future. Also the par cans lights were quite tricky because the par cans lights are very heavy and you have to be very careful to lift and carry alongside installing and uninstall the lights too. If not, then this can create a major towards myself or those around me and it's important to know how to  install the theatre light in an incorrect way for a show, concert or performance etc or this could also damage the actors/actress or even the audience and I didn't know how to use the par can I would immediately ask for my colleagues help as or if my colleague didn't know I would definitely help them to be safe and it's safe for the environment.

Unit 3 - Disneyland Paris

November 12th -15th 2018
DisneyLand Paris 2018
During my trip Disneyland Paris, I really learnt around the background how the production team create the shows look alive for the tourists and it's very magical but knowing the behind the scenes it's an easy knowledge and technique to understand and I would like to apply what I have learnt for my further education in my future.
The first night of Disneyland Paris, we went to watch the fireworks. And I noticed the projection they reflected on the water and the motion of the fireworks they created, some increased and others decreasd along with the music it changed motions and movements of the fireworks. And the SFX was really affective because I was amazed on how they created the projection to create a dream to the audience even towards me.
During the parade, the dragon float really caught my eye because it was fascinating how they created to make the dragon float breathe out fire and every time dragon would tilt the head up, it would breathe out fire. And I had an idea that someone in the float created the fire by pedalling the dragon or it would automatically breathe fire out when the head would tilt up. I think I would create this  SFX in the future because the way it caught my eye because it's a SFX I've never seen before and I would like to learn and apply this in my future preferences.

This video shows my Unit 3 presentation due to not being comfortable to be recorded but I recorded myself talking about my presentation. And my presentation talks the entertainment technicians, the works around the production, health and safety and beneficial things I have learnt, also what inspired me with what caught my eyes.

 Evaluation

During my time in Disneyland Paris, I learnt how the production team work as they are called 'The Entertainment Technicians' and it was fascinating and their work made me consider to work in the Disneyland resort industry as I would love to bring to the tourists to have the same the experience that I had. What I learnt doing in this trip was mostly the costume during the parade as that caught my eye more because I have always been interested with over the top detailed costumes such as the parade photo that I provided and I would most definitely like to experience creating costume as the same as the parades costume. The highlighted moment also was during the parade again was the SFX with breathing dragon and what I realised was the as soon the dragon heads would go higher the mouth would breath and I thought it was cool as in how did they create that for that do happen such as equipment's, tools that's what went through my mind. Another highlight was at the end of the trip as we saw the Christmas Disneyland Paris lights, the way the production team used the projection and reflecting the lights onto the building was so very perfected and that also caught my eye as I was looking around during that highlighted magical night, I couldn't none of the production team and I think they were very well hidden which is a good work also a lot of practise too to recreate the magical for the audiences and I would gladly like to experience the work anywhere that does the same work area so I could do a work experience. In my opinion, this trip was very beneficial and there should be trips similar as Disneyland Paris because apart from the rides and other enjoyment, you do really a lot of practical's and it's a challenge but this really helps within your work and in the future as this Disneyland Paris will reflect in my future and most definitely as I will use these skills in the future.
