The Gio Console Programming

Thoroughly, I learnt how to record the lighting installion onto the Gio Console programme. Step by step: 1. You will select one of Fresenls, Profiles, Flood Battens, Parcans, LED's or Moving lights but the Fresenls is the most common used lanterns in lighting so starting off I selected the Fresenls 85,86,88 and 89 all in a row. Then used the 'Fader Page Control' to rise the lights up then I would record what I created onto the cue after used the 'Fader Page Control' again and scrolled the lights down to create a blackout to add onto my cue. Personally, I think it was easy and quick to learn because it's all simple if you are interested in the area of the production team. However, coming to technical theatre alongside working with the performing arts department with other students, we were assigned to work with other students then teaching them how to use the Gio Console to recreate 'Relight My Fire' song by Take that ft Lulu. Moreover, there was a session that we watched the music video of 'Relight My Fire' to get an idea, in order to fresh our brains to create a vibrant vibe for our light installation to present to my peers. I taught and explained to my partner how to use the Gio Console as every single of the other performing arts students had to learn to get used to using the Gio Console in the future. And I taught my partner how to record the light installation onto the cute then managaing the file so the file doesn't get lost but the main objective was recording, adding onto the cues and being able to editing when the file is saved. On the other hand, I was handed a Gio Console Programme booklet which has helped along for the use of working in the gallery on the Gio Console and the booklet is very helpful and very much in depth if you are a production student or trying to learn about the Gio Console.

Image result for theatre lights
This is a Par cans light which acts like flood batterns, but without the intensity of light that a flood batterns provides. These lights are most commonly used for concerts but this depends where the need for lighting is to flood battern area, alongside providng more selected areas of lighting. However, I taught how to uninstall the par cans lights alongside with my partner Kieran and together we learnt how to uninstall and install the par can in a safe way possible. In order to uninstall the par cans is depress the two adjacent spring leaves on the left and right accessory holders and gently remove the lens retaining- ring out of the lighting texture. Then installing the par can is to place the lens retaining ring on a flat surface with three copper clips facing upwards. The lens is placed with the concave side upwards and once these are placed correctly, slide the lens under one of the copper clips then carefully depress the two other clips simultaneously with your thumbs just so the lens seats onto the retainer. These were beneficial as I will be working in the gallery and theatre more often and I needed to know this otherwise I could injure those around me if placed incorrectly or not having a clue and that's why it's important that I should learning and understand how to work with the par cans and other theatre lights. Therefore, par cans and other theatre can be very dangerous as in dealing with par cans and other theatre in the future, for example changing lens for shows, concerts or performance these par cans have to be very secure in every possible before placing it in the ceiling.

Evaluation:

In addition, learning about the par can was beneficial as a production student but I also enjoyed working with other students outside my department was great getting along with them also them learning about the arts around of production which is great to learn about, the reason I chose this course because I am more behind the scenes type of student and I wanted to learn more about the production team do. Therefore, in the previous as I was studying UAL Performing Arts Level 2 I had some experience for performances such as marketing, poster making and set design which was my most favourite and drawn my intention towards production arts. And learning to work with par can and Gio Console was enjoyable as I will be doing this course for the rest of year and I will be developing my skills as going along.

Lighting Installation:
Take that - Relight My Fire
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40Od45DjCA4

In this assignment we had to recreate the music video 'Relight My Fire' but using the lighting installation instead. Furthermore, I was assigned to work with Hesel and as me and Hesel were worked together we schemed through the music video 'Relight My Fire' and the music video showed very colourful and very bright colours alongside too retro so me and Hesel wanted to recreate the same as the music video. However, we discussed about what colour would seem very bright as the music video for our lighting installation and we chose to use the colours such as Green, Yellow, Red, and Blue as these colours are very colourful then mix these colours together throughout the song but as the chorus we would use the colour red as it says 'Relight My Fire'. Moreover, as we are in the gallery room in the theatre we used the Gio Console Programe to create the lighting installation and alongside with Hesel I taught him how to use the Gio Console Programme so he would be able to use it as well. After we recorded our lighting installation, we saved our work onto a file to ensure that our work is safe and doesn't get lost.

Evaluation:

In addition, the lighting installation a good experience to recreate a 90's theme into exploring different colours in the lighting installation. However, this was beneficial for other students outside the theatre course which gave them an experience to understand and learn how to use the Gio Console Programme as a whole. But I believe that I wished that my partner would be attend the session so we would get more work don together but it was awesome working together as our ideas were great together and did not clash at all and it was nice way to understand his ideas a musician too.

Creating a Music Video:

This assignment we have to work in groups to create a music video and I was assigned to work with Adam and Diogo. We had session as where we had explore on youtube  for inspiration for our music video, me and Adam had similar inspirations such as; Michael Jackson, 80's song and etc but we as a group decided to make our music video with a Christina Aguilera song. Moreover, the song is about heart break and love so we wanted to create a sentimental video, as Me and Diogo went to explore outside to find ideas to capture footage,  I captured footage of a building to show as looking up to the skyscraper and looking up as a disappointment of love to show frustration plus everyone glances up into the sky. Also Diogo captured video's of me to show heart break that the character is fed up of love and has to let go of love.

However, we had to use this software called 'iMovie'. As this software is to mostly videos or short film but there was also 'Adobe Premiere Pro CC' which is also another software also used to edit videos but unfortunately I couldn't use it due to misunderstanding the software. Therefore I chose to use iMovie because I have experience with the software as I have edited videos before for my youtube channel. And with my skills I was able to create the music video with the footage that I held. Meanwhile, I was editing I chose a song called  'Medicine by Queen Naija' which is a 21st Century song and this song is about lying, cheating also heartbreaking. The reason why I chose this song was because as I was exploring each song that would give an idea to create the music alongside to match the footage I held to have a meaning and the song I chose gave an idea and it also related to the footage I held. But I really could have been beneficial if I have taken more footage to create the music video that I want.
I captured this image near Kings Cross. I  decided to capture the picture of the building because not of the likes of it but I wanted to created a moment where the girl looks like up the building and the sky to think what next? And some music videos have captures of building as an inspiration of Hall of Fame music video

And this image the work I have been working on 'iMovie'. Therefore, I decided to work by myself as I wasn't much included in my group but the music I have been working on shows the footage that Diogo and I captured as we were exploring and with the footage I had I created the music video which was roughly great but I wished I captured more footage to create the music to my expectations that I wanted. However, for my first time creating a music video on 'iMovie' it was good as I would say per say but there could be some improvements as a Film Editor would agree with me too.

Evaluation:

Moreover, I believe that I should have been more a participant with my group as we did not discussed as much together, therefore Diogo informed what was happening within our group such as the song and the footage captured by Adam and Diogo. Along with my group we did discuss some similarities of our ideas. Another time, that I am assigned into a project similar to this assignment with any other of my peers, I shall be more open minded and definitely share my ideas more because this would be great for the group as whole rather be than working by myself but independent is good but this was a group project and I should have involved myself more. I will take note into accountable for my future preferences as this will help me beneficially.
